Pink Presents and More Stars

Hello my Dear Friends! I hope you have had wonderful Christmas! We had quiet and relaxing Christmas this year plus the best weather! Sunshine and warm, perfect to spend time outside! Presents have been opened  and there was something special …

… painting of our sweet, little Foxy! My dear friend has painted this and it’s so precious to me! I was so surprised and touched when saw this! My artist friend lives in Finland but she met Foxy many times. I haven’t framed this painting yet, but I hope to get it done with frame like this …

Pink for a sweet girl! and more pink … I got the most soft and warm blouse in pink! and pink original Marshmallows!

I won’t take this furry blouse off before it’s warm spring! Today it was almost too warm outside and Nelli enjoyed there, too! She made me company when I took photos …

Cats have so funny way to keep all they feet gatherd together! This time of the year Nelli has so shiny and beautiful fur!

I have made more stars. I felt that this is a little boring project because those diamonds are big and also this is not so colourful as I usually make. But now when I started to make the y-seams, I’m happy that the pieces are big and there is not so much to sew. Lucky me I didn’t want to make this pattern in the beginning of my quilting career! It would have been very short career. Y -seams are not too difficult but you have to know how to do it and they need more time,  concentration and patient.

I’m not totally sure yet if I should leave those orange/brown stars out or if I shall include them. I have to see when I can see all the stars layed together. Only problem is where to to do that? I wish so much that I could have a design wall!

 

Now it’s difficult to believe that some years ago Nelli was so affraid of Nero that she didn’t go anywhere near to him. She was always somewhere more up so that Nero couldn’t reach her. Now Nelli is all around and even in the same bed with Nero. She does her best to fit in the gang. She eats Nero’s dry food, she wants every morning piece of cheese like Hanna and Nero use to have. In the afternoon she eats the same food with the dogs, for example rice with some meat. She even wanted a Christmas coocie!

All our puppies has been really good and they got so much presents … some of them have been eaten already …

Nero just came to me and he wants company, hugging, massage and surely some goodies! I wish you wonderful and relaxing end of this year! I think I go to eat my marshmellows …

Stash builder ? & Winner !

Goooood Mooooonth to everyone !!!

Today we have a special guest to announce our give away winner! And the winner for the My Memories Scrap booking software is … ANNE !!!  Anne is our Norwegian friend from Oslo and she writes beautiful blog ‘Quiltefia’! Anne is knitting beautiful jackets and jumpers and she also sews fantastic quilts, bags and much more! Congratulations Anne!!!

Thank you ‘London’ for your help with our give away! ‘London’ is a Golden Retriewer and the sweetest girl! She is always happy and smiling and I’m  happy to spend some time with her now and then. Here we stopped to take few photos on our morning walk. In the summer ,early in the morning, the light and colours are fantastic and London loves the beach! She loves to swim but enjoyes also just sitting there, watching and smelling the sea.

I think I’m a stash builder?! What’s that? Of course someone who builds a stash = collects fabrics! If you like to make patchwork and quilts, the more fabrics in different colours and prints you have, the better! These just came from Cindy from Fluffy Sheep Quilting! I love them and can’t believe I didn’t have any polka dots in my stash!

New project is beginning and you will hear all about that as soon as it’s ready! And more fabrics … these are souvenirs from Cypros! Would you have prefered parfum or chocolate?

These are canvas – perfect for bags, pouches, fabric baskets etc. And ‘writing’ – I have wanted fabrics with letters and text! There are some antique cars, old ships, coffee cups, tea pots and lots of text! Oh Nelli … I didn’t have yet time to hang the ‘Butterflies’ quilt and look who found it …

She loves to be up there and look what we are doing downs stairs.

Very soon it’s time to collect olives. This year our trees are so full of them. Olive trees make olives once an year and usually every second year they are full full and every second year there are less olives.

Beach starts to look empty even yesterday was a perfect swimming day! We had +30 C and south wind with bright blue sky! today clouds and strong wind; rain is coming.

I want to send my warmest thoughts and prayers to everyone even remotely touched by the storm Sandy. It has looked scary and terrible in the news and I can’t imagine how difficult it is for the people living there.

NERO’S POST: Hi mom!

Vof vof my sweet friends! It’s late evening and we are waiting our dear friend from Finland … soon we are on our way to pick her from the airport … how exiting! She always plays a lot and keeps some goodies! But I have a moment and want to say Hello to my mom!

Last week Teje came home so happy, because she had met ‘my mom’s mom’ = that sweet woman who has my mom, dad and one sister! We were so happy to hear some news from them and learn that they are all fine!

We wanted to take a nice photo to show how I look now with my summer fur – very slim! But oh boy, it is still so hot that I didn’t like to model in the sun.

I love to play and even it’s hot I’m trying to play few moments now and then! but just wait to see when autumn comes, I shall be outside all day long and have so much fun!

If you look the first photo, you can imagine that I heard something exiting … she said the magic word … I heard it … αυτοκινητο = car!!! I love car drives!

Once when I was young, they were looking for me every where and couldn’t find me. The car was outside and there I was! I had jumped in from the half open window! Okey, I know the blue car is for me because I’m a boy (=I make a mess with my hairs) …

Let’s go to the airport now! I’ll be back soon … in few days with new news! By by friends! I blow you a kiss!!!

NERO’S POST: pink pouch piruet

Vof vof vof!! What’s up friends?! Hope you are fine – I am! The weather is great – at night! In the day time it’s still really hot but in the evening I relax outside listening the sounds of my garden … birds on the trees, hedgehog walking around, cats in the neighbourhood and so on. Because here in my blog we like to show always even one craft, I’ll show you this …

In the evenings when I search my garden, Teje is making lavender pouches. There are now quite many, but still we need to fill them. I show you more later.

This summer my vegetable garden is not full of tomatoes, cucambers, paprikas, watermelons, strawberries etc. This year we didn’t put there anything because we (they) knew that it’s going to be very busy summer. But I found something …

Yeeeee, grapes! Heh – heh, this was few weeks ago, see I was still wearing my toeless sock! I love grapes but then we learnt that they are not good for dogs, so I don’t eat them anymor (only if I find them on my own from the garden).

I don’t believe – she bought pink wine! is there really pink wine? I don’t think greek language has pink word for wine. There is red = κοκκινο, ερυθρο  (kokkino, erithro) and white = ασπρο, λευκο (aspro, lefko), but no pink!

Βθτ νεωερ … oups, sorry forgot to change the letters … ment to say, but never mind, if she likes pink. She went to ‘Jumbo’ for pillow firms and we got new toys – pink and blue!

Oh ssshhh, why this happens – again most fun part of my post is missing … I try again …

So here we have just got our new, clean toys …

We had so much fun and Hanna made some great piruets!

Look, she has been knitting! No, not she, but she …

We didn’t disturb her project and she has knitted a huge net during the last months!

We are not very good with not showing what we have done , but we’ll try, because there is something happy next week and it’s sort of related with ‘this’. So we save ‘this’ for then and I show you only a sneaky peaky!

‘PETS ON QUILTS’ show!

Hello and welcome to join ‘Pets on Quilt’s  August 2012 show! Wonderful blog ‘Lily Pad Quilting’ is hosting this quilt show and it’s all about pets and quilts! And here I am on a quilt …

If you are visiting our blog first time, may I intoroduce myself: I’m Hanna and this is my ‘brother’s’ Nero’s blog  (he’s not my real brother, but he is my hero because he rescued me). And Teje’s, too, she is the one who quilts. Nero writes more often than me and he’s great with photos. I’m always shy and worried if I need to be a model …

But if I’m told funny things, I start to relax  …

… and a good, big yawn helps …

This is the first quilt Teje made, even I think it’s more like a blanket … she didn’t know well then and just sew log cabins and trees, filled that with fat wadding (it’s super soft) and quilted and quilted … a lot, but that was fun because I was sleeping on her lap under the blanket! Those blue-green-white colours and trees reminded her about her home country Finland, so she named this ‘Finnish Forest’. It has a funny matching patchwork pillow and I love to sleep on them!

Huh, it’s so hot here – I’m really waiting the winter to jump in to that arm chair and to snuggle with this quilt!

Nero’s Post: Foxy and fabrics

Vof Vof Vof! This morning wasn’t the best one … Foxy didn’t feel well and I was so worried about her. She is very old and she doesn’t have much strength to be sick.

As I told to you, she has ‘those days’ and I am next to her all the time. Sometimes it’s too much for her and we (who ? – they) got an idea to lent this cage from a friend. That was a great idea. Now Foxy can sleep and rest there and I can stay next to her but my eagerness doesn’t bother her. But in the morning Foxy was throwing out and that made her so tired that one long moment we thought that now she is leaving us. Then she was sleeping on our lap for an hour – just so tired – and fortunately after a good sleep she was fine! How happy we were but still sad because this made us remember that one day …

Now we have been already many times out, we have eaten good food and some dessert sticks …  so we are fortunately fine again! We do hope that ‘those days’ end soon and we all can calm down! And I start to be very hungry because I don’t have time to think food …

I thought now is good time to show this – orange and red to give energy to Foxy! This is a crochet art – wall hanging that Teje’s mom has made!

We have washed lots of beautiful fabrics today …

It’s very windy – perfect day for laundry! They dry so quickly and you know we had to wash Foxy’s blankets, too.

We have been planning a new project …

… but I’m sorry, I can’t tell you anything about that, because it’s top secret!!!

Now Foxy says that she likes to go out for a little walk. Then I’ll try to get some sleep! I’m really tired because I’m looking after Foxy day and night – all the time! Please send some strength to my darling Foxy! She is my dearest girl friend!

Back home …

Hello! I had wonderful holidays in Finland! But as you know, it’s also nice to return home – especially when someone has missed you and is so happy to see you again …

My dear, sweet Hanna! I think she missed me mostly – even I go for shopping, she may wait me on the door!

Nero was really happy and I had missed him! But today already we had a small disagreement, because he escaped from the open gate and I found him from the square of the village! He was busy smelling around and didn’t think that there was something wrong with that. He doesn’t know to be affraid of the cars and they drive too fast even in the small roads. Happy end – I found him quickly!

My dearest Foxy was also so happy to see me and jumpped around me! Last week she had her 16 th birthday! And Hanna had her 6 th birthday! I think I need to make a cake for them!

Nelli didn’t  show any interest when I was speaking to her … perhaps she thought I shouldn’t have left …

Morning coffee at home with roses from our garden. Blue coocie box belongs to Nero and the girls!

So I’m back to Crete – White Mountains are still white … 

I shall be quite busy now for a while, but I have still many things to show you from Finland. After I have settled down, I continue ‘My view from Finland’.

RAINY FRIDAY IN CHANIA

Hello my Dear Friends! Here we are spending this Friday again mostly at home, because it’s rainy, rainy, rainy and rainy! I feel that these last days we have had all for seasons and sometimes in one day!

Weather has been mostly rainy but some days it was changing every half an hour … from lovely sunny moment to …

… storm, rain and unbelievable strong wind. One day the wind was so strong that many trees were falling down not to mention all the smaller things like tables and chairs ‘flying’ around! Sea looked amazingly beautiful – full of ‘white sheeps’ and white dusty going with the wind!

Our little village. Those mountains you see are the lowest and behind in the clouds are the snowy ‘White Mountains’. Our house is on the far left.

Then again some beautiful springly moments …

There is already some flowers giving us hope, while waiting the spring! And so much green grass every where!

These creatures had fun playing, before they were hidden again in the old fabric from the rain. For many sweet creatures this cold, rainy season makes life difficult …

… yesterday on my way home, I met these beautiful friends. They were sleeping under the tree. It was soft and ‘cosy’ corner … but it was windy and raining! Fortunately I had crackers with me to give. They didn’t take them from me, even the smaller let me pet her. But after I left they took the crackers.

The beach of Kalathas is on the left side and behind these trees is one taverna. Where you see now water (behind the dogs) is normally a parking place! In the winter the rough sea brings the water far a way from the beach because that place is a little bit lower!

So I guess it’s going to be enjoyable weekend in the sewing attic, because they say that this weather is going to continue … who knows how long.  Finally I am thinking to catch the pink quilt top with the wadding and the backing. And then the fun part begins … quilting!

I would like you to meet my sweet friend MAUREEN! Her BLOG is so wonderful and full of her beautiful crafts and designs! She has today give away for lovely fabrics, so why not to go to say hello to her!
