It’s beautiful, I really like those colours they’re very Summery
It came out beautifully. You can really see the “fish”. I know nothing about quilting, but it would be neat if the quilting could sort of look like scalloped ocean waves or maybe just squiggles.
I know whatever you do will be perfect!
Can’t help on the quilting front … but I love how the top looks. Very, very summery which is nice when we’re surrounded by snow!
Your quilt is turning out so very lovely. As for how to quilt? Would outlining the fish, or giving them fishie scales look funny? I have to admit that I also get stumped on to quilt a quilt sometimes. Can’t wait to see what you pick!
Thank you Christie! Fichie scales is so great idea! If I was going to quilt by machine I would absolutely make them but by hand I’m affraid it’s too much. But I am going to make a baby quilt and perhaps a pillow so I can use your perfect idea for them! Thanks again! x Teje
What a wonderful color the aqua thread is, just like a summer sea–the perfect place for all your fish to play. Maybe a few waves would be a good thing especially in the solid border you plan add, and then accent the geometric shapes of the fish. What ever you decide , it will be a beautiful quilt inspired by a summer day by the sea. Hugs toNero and his girls.
Thank you Zooperson! Waves sound good – could I make them? I may give a try!
x Teje
Your quilt looks so beautiful in the sunshine there Teje, you have been working so hard on it. I am sure whatever way you finish it it will indeed be a dream of a quilt. Nero looks very interested in those biscuits! Billy sends a purr,
Jane x
Thank you Jane! Nero is always so helpful and tries to make my photos interesting! even those biscuits are not real! Hugs to Billy!
x Teje
Love the bright, cheerful colors of this quilt top! I also love your idea of adding a turquoise border, which would add a nice frame. The color of that thread is yummy. Maybe you could quilt diagonal lines going through the larger point of each block, ending up with a sort of overall criss-cross pattern.
Thank you Terri! I am so happy with this quilt – I like very much and feel that it’s better than I expected. Thank you for your quilting advice!
x Teje
Your quilt is beautiful, and I’m jealous on your sunshine, here it rains. Higs Tiny
It’s beautiful, and the turquoise thread is perfect, no matter how you quilt it.
Thank you Dan! I thought that it’s nice to pick up the turquoise for the fishes! Merry Christmas! x Teje
Love the fresh and pretty colours of this!!!
Thank you Kirsten! Merry Christmas! x Teje
So beautiful!!!! So glad to see the fabrics loved!
The turquoise thread will look amazing!! Can’t wait to see the finish
Thank you for your sweet words! I enjoy fabrics and these are really beautiful! I am happy that I found this great fish block because it’s great with these colours and prints by Quilted Fish! x Teje
Your quilt is absolutely beautiful, it reminds me of the sea. I am sure however you chose to quilt it, it will still look amazing. Happy holidays to you and your family.
Take care
Louise
Thank you Louise! These fabrics and the bright turquoise is really like the sea and so perfect for the fish blocks! Merry Christmas! x Teje
Love it! Love it! I think your idea of adding a turquoise border will be just perfect for this quilt! When it comes to quilting….. I don’t have many ideas how to quilt my own quilts – lol…. but in this case… hm… I think you should try to outline the fish – make them pop – somehow…. The turquoise thread will look great on your quilt! Can’t wait to see the finish!
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours!
Thank you Astrid! When I started this quilt I thought that turquoise is very strong and perhaps I shouldn’t use it much but now I think it’s really great! Merry Christmas! x Teje
The fish quilt is lovely. It was a good decision to leave out the white fish, the coloured ones look very happy swimming together, and I bet the white ones will look good in their pond too! I think I am a patchworker, not a quilter- my quilting ideas are minimal and boring! I think i would maybe echo just inside each fish, but I dd like an earlier suggestion of fish scales. A perfect choice of quilt block for these lovely aqua colours
Thank you Benta! I’m happy to hear that you thought the same with the white blocks. They will be nice together but here I like to have all the blocks the same colourful. I feel also that I am patchworker and I haven’t made even so many quilts yet. I can’t quilt with my sewing machine so my quilts are always hand quilted and that’s why the quilting needs to be quite simple. Mostly I enjoy making pictures with fabrics! Yesterday evening I made suddenly small mug rug (pink and green with a bird). Even it was quite simple I realized that I have to make more pictures because that is something I really enjoy!
I would love to use that fish scale idea for a smaller work with those white blocks. Merry Christmas! x Teje
What a great top you’ve made! It just breathes summer and sea. As for the quilting; I always find that one of the hardest choices to make for a quilt. But the idea to outline the fish, as mentioned above, seems a good idea.
Thank you Dorien! It is difficult to choose how to quilt especially because by hand it needs to be quite simple. I would like to make those fishes more visible but I’ affraide that they are too many! I’ll see … on the other hand there is no hurry, I can stitch as long as I like. Merry Christmas! x Teje
This quilt top is so beautiful – the colors are so vibrant and fresh! Are you really going to hand quilt this? Wow! I can’t wait to see the finished quilt! I’m sure you’ll find just the right quilting design once you start…
Happy Holidays!
Noga
Thank you Noga! I shall hand quilt! I enjoy that part of quilting but I do it also because my sewing machine doesn’t like quilting a blanket. I hope to start during the Christmas days! Merry Christmas! x Teje
Hi there! That is a beautiful quilt you got going there. I really like the colors. It is always nice to see such bright color combinations in the winter. They are so bright and makes the gloomy winter days lighten up a bit. I <3 small arts and crafts stores.. maybe a little too much! You are right, they are always filled with all sorts of beautiful, delicate little things that are amazing. Sometimes, I end up buying things that I think I might use at a later day just because they are beautiful.
Thank you for your sweet words! That shop is so small that most of the things are ‘hidden’ and if I don’t know to ask something i don’t even know they may have it! Merry Christmas! x Teje
I have some of those red wooden hearts too – I think I bought them in the Ittala shop in Helsinki – I also bought my reindeer necklace there as well.
I like the quilt waves that help the fish swim.
And I love that you had some sunlight to take that wonderful backlit photo of the quilt top. Cold & foggy here.
Thank you Kathy! I like all the small wooden decorations! Your reindeer necklace sounds lovely! Merry Christmas! x Teje
Beautiful! The blue is just perfect, Teje!
I do not know one thing from quilting, but I’m sure what ever you decide to do, it’ll be wonderful! Happy sewing in Holidays!
Many Merry Christmas wishes from Finland!
Yours,
Mia
Merry Christmas to you and your family Teje!
I wish you all the best for this coming year!

Thank you Angie! Merry Christmas to you, too! x Teje
Just love your quilt top! Enjoy the quilting, once you settle for your design.
