BEING CREATIVE with Julia Crossland!

August – “Travel”

Hello! I wish you a good month – how it can be already September and autumn is soon here! Autumn is my favourite month! I’m very happy to be able to join Julia and her wonderful ’Being Creative’ project! The theme for August was ‘Travel’.

I guess you remember ‘Stavros’, special, cute kitten we rescued with my friend. First ‘travel’ that came to my mind, was Stavros travelling to his new home in Finland!

I had ‘a picture’ in my mind: Stavros with his suitcase. One day I took scraps and patches to my sewing table and began to look what I could make with them … the rest of the picture became during the progress …

I made first patchwork block for the center and over it I add the cat, suitcase, sun and the bush where Stavros is sitting. To get even more happy feeling I cut small colourful triangles and sew them with sik sak around the border.

How much fun one can have with a basket full of fabric pieces!

I was so happy with this pillow that I wanted to make at once an other one with more red colours!

In the morning when I took photos, Nero enjoyed watching his dreams …

Your cushions with Stavros and his suitcase are great, Teje! A lovely way to remember a little kitten!

Autumn is my favorite season too. Love the cooler nights and beautiful colors in nature. What a adorable set of appliqué pillows to match that cute kitten! Looks like a fun project.

What happened to this year? Our weather has been so unseasonal that the veggies in the garden don’t know what to do! But you know what to do–make cute, cute pillow tops. Well done

Teje that is so lovely and a wonderful memory of dear little Stavros. I’m so glad he found such a super new home in Finland. We have our summer back here…yay!

Those are really adorable pillows. Its hard for me to even think about doing that much detail sewing, all I normally make are leashes and other dog gear.

What a great job at creating the cat and suitcase… two perfect adorable pillows! And I nearly just spit out my coffee with the picture of Nero. Asleep on the job? Oh my. Guess it was nap time. Sweet dreams Nero!

That is soooo great, it’s like drawing with fabric! Drawing i get, fabric is more of a struggle for me ~ so I doublly appreciate those who can successfully make needles and thread cooperate with them!! I hope little Stavros is doing well, what a lucky kitty to be rescued by kind humans! ))))

I absolutely love these cushions. Stavros is so lucky – he had such a sad start in life, they always amaze me that they bounce back and don’t seem to hold any grudges.
