“FIRE TAIL” PILLOW

Hello my Dear Friends!!! Welcome to share my sunny Sunday!!!

I have been waiting to show you this! New cushion that I named ‘Fire Tail’!

Yesterday and today it is here – the spring!!! We have been cutting the grass in the garden. After the winter there is so much green to cut and collect.

I wish I could send you that stunning smell of fresh cutted crash we have now all around the house! From my sewing room I see this …

… Foxy is going some where … perhaps to the vegetable garden … it’s so lovely and pieceful view … so difficult to understand that some other parts of the world are suffering after that terrible earthquake in Japan! My thoughts are with the people in Japan and other places where this eartquake made damages and lives were lost! It’s difficult to find words …

Idea for this pillow came quite spontaneously. I wanted to make something creative …

I begun to make the center for a pillow and thought why not to use that shape of the dog I like …

For the ear and tail, I needed to use other method than in ‘Nero’s Garden’ quilt because this needs to be more strong. I haven’t made much applique so this was really ‘my own’ try and I don’t know if there is easier way – I hope so!

I made the stitching around the dog before sewing the ear and the tail.

I made mistake … stupid mistake and needed time to frog and re-sew …

I’m lucky to have a lots of pation … but when I learn to concentrate ? never, I guess … I’m thinking too many things at the same time and the result is here. I show this because often we feel that every one else is doing perfect work and no mistakes and only we have difficulties. The truth is – I think – that every one makes mistakes and often needs to do and try again to get the wanted result.

I’m really happy how this ‘Fire Tail’ pillow came up. We should remember and learn to be proud of our works and not feeling too modest about the crafts we make with love and lots of effort! Julia made me think and remember some important matters … I shall be creative with her! On my sidelist you find the bright blue button: “Being Creative” with Julia Crossland! With this pillow I shall join again the Blogger’s Pillow Party! It’s so much fun to see wonderful pillows and new creations! The button is always on my sidelist.

Hmmmm … Flickr … again new challenge … I have put some photos now there in Flickr … but I’m wondering … do you add your photos first to Flickr and from there to your blog? Or how you make that when someone clicks a photo in your block, it opens the Flickr?!

Few days ago I went for shopping … threads, zippers, needles … and with lots of chearching I found few pieces of fabric … I need something for ‘Nero’s Garden’ quilt … that was difficult … but I shall be creative!

I have now baking going on in the kitchen so I have to go … perhaps I have next time something sweet!

Hi Teje what a lovely cheerful post and thank you for reminding us how lucky we are not to be affected by the dreadful earthquake in Japan. Those poor people.
I read Julia’s post and thought her idea was super….I may sign up too. Your cushion has turned out beautifully, well done. I often think that we never learn unless we make mistakes… I make plenty!

What a cheerful pillow, so sunny and summery! And you’re right, when we create something we really love, we should show it off proudly!

I have a flickr-account too, but I do not use it as connected to my blog as I didn’t get it working properly! I am hopeless with computers, I wish there will be some good advise for you coming in later comments!

I am loving the colours of your new cushion, and Fire Tail is a fabulous name!
I love how you don’t mind sharing your mistake, sure we all make them and isn’t that the best way to learn? I love the “Fire Tail” pillow with the image of a dog. I like the bright colors. Your garden is so nice and green. I miss green grass and flowers. Maybe if the snow ever melts.

I love the dog cushion. yes we all make mistakes, but you choose to un pick and correct the mistake, or you can choose to be happy with the uniqueness that makes it yours! I read that the native Americans, when they beaded their tunics, made a deliberate mistake, as they didn’t want their work to be perfect, because only God can creat perfectly

What great buttons on the back..and the colours are so vibrant..Nero will live eternally through your work! It was funny that at the very moment I read about your lawn and the smell of mown grass that very smell wafted in my open window. My next door neighbour cut their grass and we cut ours this morning too! We are also very sad regarding Japan and feel for the Japanese there in so much suffering.

What a beautiful pillow you created. I love how you have so many colors but it all blends in so well. Even the detail of the threading and the dog’s eye is so nicely done. I hope someday I can do something as lovely as that. Thanks for sharing, even about your mistake. It makes it all seem more possible for me:)

Hi Teje. I love the cushion you made. It’s a very nice idea to first piece and stitch, and later add the applique. The result is stunning. I agree with you; we all make (lots of) mistakes and there’s no harm in that. But I guess that we wouldn’t learn anything without those mistakes, would we?

I love the pillow….is this the one you were telling me about earlier? I wish I had your grass to mow right now. Our snow is melting quickly; but will be a couple of months for sure before mowing any grass . But the weather is starting to warm up a bit..can’t complain.

I love the colors and shapes of your pillow. Thank you for posting it. The dog shape is fabulous…….I like anything with dogs and fabric.
Your green garden is like a breath of fresh air…….we still have snow here in central Canada…….this week it is FINALLY starting to melt, but we have a long way to go before green grass and flowers! Happy Spring!

Did you get the answer to your Flickr question? If you want the pictures to open up in Flickr when someone clicks them, upload them to Flickr first. Above the picture you will see 2 boxes, one that says “actions” and one that says “share”. Click on the “share” button and you have a choice of either grabbing the link or the html code for the picture. When you are writing your post, insert the link or html code where you want the picture.

To insert the html code, look at the top right of the window where you are writing your post and it says “visual” or “html”. I usually will switch to html when I get to where I want the picture and just paste the code in. Then, switch back to visual to keep writing the rest of your post. Does that make sense?
