RED-WHITE PATCHWORK BLOCKS

SUNNY SUNDAY TO YOU MY DEAR FRIENDS!!!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend! After few cloudy days the sun is shining and it’s also warmer! Still very windy - cold and rainy weather is coming back – perhaps even snow!

We took some photos to you with Nero. Nero is feeling very good and we appreciate all your lovely wishes and caring for Nero!

I’m sorry to say, but I’d need to try to make shorter posts – other wise I won’t have time to meet you often in summer time – that is a little bit difficult – again I have long list on my paper about photos I like to show to you…

I have been thinking over and over again how to make a very big quilt for our bed…

… these blocks look ‘Harlequin triangles’ to me…

I made some free size lines … but the problem is that I don’t want too much red colour … and I don’t have many choises with the fabrics for so big quilt…

Don’t you think these colours would be great – orange – white – green – dark purple!

Oughhh … I made a try for ‘disappearing 4 patches’ – I saw some where ‘wonky cutting’ and I liked that! My 4 patches disappeared so well that I didn’t know how to catch them again together! I made some lines between those really wonky wonky patches, cut them some how straight again, … and for my (unpleasant) suprise those 4 patches came visible like this … I didn’t expect this result! But only by doing and trying we can learn!

Here you see the ‘disappearing 9 patch’ block. I think it’s quite nice.

Here are the lines next to each other – not sewn together. This is always nice but not very exiting work to make a double bed size quilt! So I need to make more testing and with some other colours.

I’m fan of pinwheeles. Here I tried different cut to avoid the thick spot in the middle. It’s really windy and my camera’s “Golla” bag is holding the blocks! I was catching them few times flying around! I have in my mind one mixed brown colour and with white and some ‘shirts’ it could be fine. For those I could try the ‘tile block’ …

As it is sunny and windy weather, I have clothes hanging outside – now it’s getting more and more windy, so it’s better I go to collect them before I need to find them from the neighbour!

Now I try to stop here …

I had to google the ‘disappearing 9 patch’ block to see how it’s cut! What a nice block and quite easy. It would make a gorgeous bed quilt. I’ve made several and am working on a new one, which needs a design wall. I recently made one, so maybe I can get it finished.

I’m so glad Nero is feeling well. He’s such a handsome boy!

I love the red and white!! All the different blocks are so fun. I like all the different patterns…even your unpleasant surprise. I like pinwheels, as well, but right now I am really liking your ’tile’ pattern that is in that lovely, worn brick path! Hugs and Love!

Nero always looks so majestic in his poses for you! Happy to hear he’s doing well.

Love all your patchwork blocks, especially those cheerful colors. I took a picture last summer similar to those grassy pavers – so inspiring.

Oh, dear! We were out of town and I missed that Nero had gotten sick. Such good news that he is doing better.

I really love the plaid fabric in your blocks! It adds such a sense of fun to them.

Hi Teje, they are lovely bold bright colours. I am intrigued by quilting…it looks pretty tricky to me. You have some lovely ideas there and I am sure your quilt will be wonderful. I am glad Nero is feeling better. Keep warm, it sounds like you have some chilly weather coming.

They are interesting combinations of colour and form! I hope you are able to find the colours and the right combinations to make your big quilt. I think I would find that quite difficult to sew on my machine.
