Hello my Dear Friends! I hope you are fine and enjoying your weekend! We have the most cold and rainy time here in Crete and I’m so happy to have my new scarf almost finished …

'Olives and leaves' knitted scarf

I just loooooove this colour mix! In live they are a little bit more green colours – like olives and olive oil. I had olives and their oval shape in my mind when I was thinking how to knit a scarf. I started perhaps 6 times again and again, till I finally continued with this version.

When I have made the last finishing, I will show this scarf better … there are leaves and every second leave is with ‘right’ side and every second with ‘wrong’ side.

You may remember the fingerless hand warmess I made a while ago. They have been very usefull!

I have been quite busy lately and I want to apologize my dear friend Benta, that I haven’t showed her beautiful present earlier.  I received this beautiful, surprise bag from Benta for a while ago! Thank you so much Benta! I found Benta from the Blogger’s Quilt Festival about 2 years ago and since then we have been keeping in touch! Benta has a great blog ‘SLIK STITCHES’ with beautiful quilts and other sewings! I love also this fabric she has used!

Today has been a sad day with tears loosing our old friend but also a day with smiles meeting my new friend and her cute dog. Perhaps it’s the right time to introduce to you my new golden friend …

I went to meet her mom today and this sweet darling were waiting me on the door! She is just so lovable girl and she helped me to forget the sad things!

Baby art? I couldn’t find an other way to name something really beautiful I saw today …

I was trying to write a post for few days, but couldn’t find ‘the right’ moment. Today I thought that perhaps it was ment to be like that because today I saw something really wonderful in the internet which I know you love to see! I met (her blog) ADELE EMERSON from Finland! She makes adorable, un expected baby art?! This link will take you to the ‘about’ page in her blog and there you can see small video showing her art! You will love this!!! She has also a new book! Please go to see that because it is really something lovely with a baby, fabrics and beautiful imagination!!!

We hope with Nero that the wind brings to us some better days, warmer weather, lots of sunshine and soon spring!

Thank you for your visit and all your lovely comments! Hugs and Kisses!

SMALL PATCHWORKS & WINNER!

Hi and Welcome my Dear Friends! I am so happy to see you!

patchwork picture

Today we are at home with Nero and we have picked the winner for my birthday give away! I have to say that this time Nero wasn’t so helpful like he used to be with picking up the lucky one, so I had to do it by my self.

He was very happy to join photo shooting in the morning sunshine, but he didn’t have any interest for the papers in the bowl. The lucky winner, I picked from ’my yarn bowl’ is ………………

KELLY !!!!! Kelly from ‘BLUE BIRD SEWS’Congratulations dear Kelly! Please visit Kelly and her wonderful blog to say hello! She makes fantastic quilts and other things and also she is hosting a great monthly link party!

Thank you everyone for entering and writing so lovely messages! I enjoyed reading about your favourite cloths and colours! Very clearly the most favourite cloth and colour is blue jeans!

I have finished this small patchwork picture which became a wall decor! It is now in my small etsy shop and I decided to make it a special introductory offer for my quite new shop! Also all the January the shipping is free! I don’t remember if I have told you about my shop’s name? It’s TEJESARITA - just simply my first and second name.

patchwork picture

With this blog and etsy shop, trying to manage with all the computer issues, I learn also so often something new. When I started the etsy shop, I didn’t have any idea for treasury lists or many other things – they seemed to be just beyond my knowlegde … but one day I thought lets try again to learn something and I did it! My first ‘Treasury list’! That was so much fun – there are millions of beautiful things to make a wonderful mosaic! Difficulty was what to choose. I realized that I started to pick turquoise things so I made turquoise Treasury list: ‘Smile – it’s turquoise’!

patchwork picture

This ‘Patches on the Beach’ is now also finished. If you like to get colourful fabric picture for example to your children’s room, this is on the self of my shop.

I shall link this post at Kelly’s “Eat-Grow-Sew” link party! And because it’s Tuesday, of course I am linking with Heather and Megan at ‘Quilt Story’s Fabric Tuesday’!  Thank you so much for your visit and I do appreciate, you take the time to write comments! I was very happy to hear that you liked my crochet coat! Unfortunately there is no pattern for it, as some of you were asking and I don’t know to make one. But if you have been crocheting, you could try to make a simple jacket like mine, because it’s not so difficult. Use your older jacket as a pattern for the measures. Good luck – you can do it!

Hugs & kisses! TEJE

PS. Just wanted to say still that there is something strange with the blogger… in many blogs I can’t leave a comment (opens only a blank page) and many blogs don’t open at all. I have visited you all but sorry if I couldn’t leave any regards!

MY CROCHET COAT

Hello Dear Friends! Few words for Friday! Today I remembered that I haven’t showed to you my winter coat and soon the winter is turning again to spring!

crochet coat

I have made this crochet coat/jacket some time ago and I use it in winter here in Crete. In Finland this would be great for spring and autumn. But believe it or not, I need here also some times my feature winter coat!

Oops … now I noticed that the sleeves are not turned like they are meant to be. You may see ‘a line’ where the right sleeve is normally turned (about 2″ from edge). Sorry, but I can’t take a new photo now.

The yarn, I have used is very thin for machine knitting, so I have used 3 of them together. There is white, brown and one mixed colour.  I didn’t have any pattern, just took some measures from an other jacket. All the pieces are very simple shapes. This is very thick and warm and only for outside use. Sometimes I have been thinking that a linen would be great … but I guess I feel it’s too complicated for me to make it. Then this could be used also even when it’s windy weather.

crochet coat

This day began with beautiful sunshine and blue sky! Shadows were still deep and dark when I was out with the dogs taking these photos. Now it’s turning to very strong wind and from the evening againg rain is expected. It was great to have two days brake from rain! Ah, almost forgot to tell you that two days ago in the morning we had zero 0! degrees!!! The front window of the car was frozen! That was Really Unusual!

cretan cats

This week I am visiting often my new ‘golden’ friend and I meet this gang every day. An other time I will introduce my friend to you. These fellows here have also some kiddies around …

cretan cats

… some one is brave enough to pose but some one preferes to hide!

I wanted to tell you about my blog friend Lori! She is very talented photographer and she makes beautiful things, knitting etc! Do you know what is knitting doll? I dind’t – it’s also called knitting nancy, knitting spool, french knitter …! Find out at Lori’s blog “Lori x 5″! Lori has two give aways open till sunday!

If you haven’t entered my give away yet, you have still time! I have made it till Sunday 22.1.2012!

Other reason I wanted to see you today, is that after a long time I want to join Andrea’s, Linda’s,  Beth’s and Annemarie’s great link parties! Please visit them and find lots of friends with their wonderful blogs and crafts they are sharing!

So now it’s time to have a cup of coffee and visit You and then I’m on my way to that sweet girl who is waiting for me!

Thank you so much for all your comments! I have enjoyed reading your lovely messages and I was so happy that you liked to share your favourite colours and cloths!

So the give away is open till Sunday and that means that propably next Tuesday Nero has picked the winner! Good Luck to all of you! Remember to visit Lori, too!

Wordless W.I.P. Wednesday

Wordless Wednesday …

PS. Give away is open till Saturday 21.1.2012!

Hello my Dear Friends! Today is my birthday and I have a present for you! But first I want to show you a new baby quilt ‘Ripples’! We have now short brake from rain and I could take photos from this small quilt in blue and white!

… in the morning just after the wash … sun is still down and makes lots of strong shadows.

After few hours in lovely sunny wind it was dry and sun was shining through some clouds …

The quilting inside and around the white circles looks like ripples on the water … so bubbles changed to ripples and it’s named ‘Ripples’. Thank you so much for your help with the name – especially Jane and Benta! Stitching all those circles around and around, took more time than some straight stitching, but I think it looks beautiful.

Even you have seen so much colours here in Nero’s Post,  blue and white has always been my dearest colours! I guess I have missed ‘My Colours’ because lately they show themselves more often in my blog!

And now … about your present …

As I can’t give you a birthday party I give you a small present. I think every home needs to have a cat and good luck – ‘Mini quilt Cat’ and ‘Lucky Olive’!

Lucky Olive is a keychain, back charm, it gives you good luck for the new year and you can hang it some where at home if you like – or even in your car! I have made Lucky Olive from olive wood from our tree and the leaves are leather and felt. Mini quilt is a mug rug, small table mat,  big potholder or a little wall quilt! I hope you enjoy these as much I enjoyed making them.

You can enter this give away just leaving me a comment till next Saturday 21.1.2012  till Sunday 22.1.2012! Take care that there is a way I can contact you if you win! Nero will pick the lucky winner!

If you should choose just only one set of cloth, what it would be? Your favourite colours?

I would absolutely choose pair of lovely blue jeans and white shirt!

Thank you for celebrating today with me! Thank you also for your wonderful and always so sweet comments!

Kisses and Good Luck!

W.I.P QUILTS

Hello and welcome to w.i.p wednesday! My quilts in progress are with fishes and bubbles or are they drops? I haven’t decide the name yet.

quilt with bubbles

Yesterday evening I left the quilt like this. I had finished the quilting and almost the binding but then it was very late and I left the last sewing for today.

The backside is with soft cotton in solid blue and the stitching looks quite nice there.

I have made some custom order baby quilts and I thought it would be nice to have few quilts in my shop. So this quilt will be soon in my etsy shop ‘TEJESARITA’. As it is my birthday month I am celebrating in my shop by having a free shipping during the January!

Now I only need one sunny day to wash it, give a dry in sunny wind and take sunny photos!

When I was quilting these bubbles, this photo came to my mind …

… so I think they are water drops and not bubbles … what you think?

Nero is here next to me and he likes to tell you something …

Nero is baking an apple pie

Vof vof my friends! I like to welcome you and also all my new friends I have met these last days! How great to have so many friends all aroung the world! You see what I am doing here – again an apple pie! I am helping to clean these almonds. I heard a complain that I’m not quick enough … could it be because I put every second almond to my mouth … and sometimes they just fell to the floor and those I can’t put in the pie … so I have eat them too!

Today happened something very odd – there was ice cubes falling from the sky! It is really really cold outside but those white things disappeared so quickly that I couldn’t see them well. I can see far away on the sea lots of big white waves. Two days ago the sea looked like this …

I’m wondering if fishes are feeling cold …

Our fish quilt is now waiting a little bit. I have stitched half of the fishes and I shall do all the other fishes, too.  But there is no hurry because this quilt is going to stay at home!

quilt with fishes

Now I shall go to visit Lee at ‘Freshly Pieced’ to see what my friends have been doing.

Then I guess I could eat some apple pie and have a comfortable nap!

I thank you all from my heart for your sweet messages! I’m so happy because I have met many new wonderful people and doggies! I am looking forward to share my Posts with you!

See you soon! Hugs and Kisses!

Vof Vof! Welcome all my friends!

Hey – I am making a baby quilt! Any one out there who likes bubbles?!

There was some ready cut squares in the sewing room with these different blues and yesterday I sew them together and there it was, a top for a baby quilt!  But I love bubbles! When I was little boy, I had all my nose in my drinking water and then I blew! Wow that was fun! So I took my baby and made lots of bubbles …

Nelli was looking over and told to me where was still bubbles missing …

What you think Nelli? Is there enough bubbles? I sew all of them over the top with a simple straight stitch.

For the backing I shall use soft, sea blue solid …

I have finished the Beach mini quilt. Still I need to cut the wood stick and then I can show you how easy it is to hang. Till then just quickly one photo over the stone wall . I couldn’t miss this year’s first “{sew} Modern Monday” so meet you at ‘Canoe Ridge Creations’! And tuesday I’m linking with ‘Fabric Tuesday’ at Quilt Story!

And now some really exiting news! Few days ago I got great post from Thunder and Storm from “2 brown dawgs”! They gave to me ‘Collies Choice Award’!!! Wow - was I a little bit surprised! I am very honored and happy for that!

This award was started by ‘The Collies of The Meadow’! They have the most beautiful collies, you will love them! The rules are simple, we have no rules other than the blog we/you give this award to be to us/you personally amongst the best being written.

Thank you so much “2 brown dawgs”!!! I am so proud and happy for this special award! Please pay a visit to say hello to Linda and her beautiful dogs!

I would like to pass this award to my dear, sweet  friend Sage , who is really beautiful and clever girl! She writes about her doggie adventures in her own blog “The (mis)adventures of Sage”!  Sage is very special girl and she is also so kind! Last week she went to she her friend to the hospital and now she is thinking to visit there more often to give joy for the people!

Now I guess I need to send this perfore it disappears … the truth is that I want to go to continue that baby quilt … I hope you don’t mind! Thank you so much for all your lovely comments! I am so happy to have so many dear friends here and like to welcome all the new friends!  Lots of warm hugs and see you soon!

PS. Leona at ‘Leonas’ Quilting Adventures’ has  wonderful presents to us! She has a give away to celebrate her over 900 followers! I’m quite sure you wouldn’t like to miss that!

NERO & TEJE

Ps. You see we are really good friends with Nelli!

BEACH ON THE PATCHWORK!

Hello! I am happy to send you today sunny wishes after many cloudy and rainy days! We had great time outside with the dogs and I was also cleaning – that is much more easier with a good weather. Nero and Hanna were having a nap in the sunshine!

My first craft this year  has a summer theme. I don’t miss summer yet and I really like the Greek winter. I think we should always enjoy the season we have – after the cold winter, summer feels much better than if we had all the time summer with too much sun and hot!

After the wonderful Christmas and New Year time, I’m happy to be back in regular days and other crafts than Chistmas things. I have had some time this picture in my mind … or something with the beach, sea and sky. The rest comes during the process.

I thought that I could have finished this more quickly, but since the New Year eve Nero has been so worried in the evenings. He was terrified with the fireworks! Still yesterday he heard some noise from outside and wanted to hide under my arms! So these last evenings I have been sitting with Nero and knitting … my endless rainbow jacket … I don’t know when I shall finish it, because now I think to change the pattern!

It’s already evening and normally I write my posts earlier. But it’s Tuesday and I want to join my friends in ‘FABRIC TUESDAY’! I have missed them during these holidays and it’s so wonderful to find their company again! You find all of us at ‘Quilt Story’ with Heather and Megan!

So, I have still a little bit work with this patchwork picture … binding and perhaps some stitching by hand …

Do you know Faith from ‘FRESH LEMONS’? She has a really beautiful blog and I love her works! She makes adorable quilts and she has great tutorials, new blocks and much more! Now she has a fantastic give away … interested to win fabric … book ? … visit her and perhaps you are one of the lucky winners!

Thank you for your lovely company today and your sweet comments! Hope to see you soon again!

MY FAT QUARTER BUNDLE!

Hello my Dear Friends!

Today I want to wish you Happy New Year and to show you my fabric choises for a fat quarter bundle! Here are finally those 12 prints and 3 solids that I managed to chooce from hundreds and hundreds beautiful fabrics in  ‘The Fat Quarter Shop’!

My Fat Quarter Bundle

My dear blog friend Laura from ‘Quokka Quilts’ had this fantastic idea and she is hosting this blog party-competition! We can make a fat quorter bundle – 12 prints and 3 solids – our favourite fabrics from The Fat Quarter Shop and then we can link our mosaic to Laura’s blog post! The lucky one wins fabric!!! Visit Laura to see all the details and there is already many many links with lovely fabric mosaics!

Here are the details for my fabrics:

1. Kaffe Fassett: Classics Tangerine Paisley Jungle

2. Kaffe Fassett: Classics Orange Millefiore

3. Kaffe Fassett: Classics Gypsy Paperweight

4. Kaffe Fassett: Classics Green Millefiore

5. Kona Solids: Orange

6. Kona Solids: Berry

7. Kona Solids: Seafoam

8. Patricia Bravo: Nature Elements Lime Sherbet

9. Kaffe Fassett: Collective Gold Tile Flowers

10. Brandon Mably, Kaffe Fassett: Collective Bright Dancing Paisley

13. Deb Strain: Meadow Friends Cotton Dragonfly Orange and Girl Curly Swirls

14. Deb Strain: Meadow Friends Cotton Grass Green and Girl Curly Swirls

15. Patricia Bravo: Oval Elements Eggplant

I made my lessons as I took this also opportunity to get to know better fabric designers and their fabrics. I have been busy these last days making notes and files. Now I am happy to know better where I can find and what, for example for a baby quilt or if I need stripes or flowers and so on – from  ‘The Fat Quarter Shop’!

Fat Quarter Shop - fabric shop

My first difficulty was to decide what kind of selection I shall make. I wanted to make a bundle with lots of blue fabrics, a bundle with many grey prints, a bundle for children fabrics …  At the end I decided to go for fabrics that I like and enjoy mostly at the moment!

At the beginning I wasn’t thinking so much Kaffe Fassett, but I do love his ‘painted’ fabrics and he has always been inspiration to me. When I was young I was knitting all the time and found so often inspiration from his colourful creations! I have never had any of his fabrics and to sew something with them would be really special!

I managed to make a bundle with 20 fabrics and then it was really hard to leave 5 of them out! I had for example one fabric with cats … but had to leave it … I had some really lovely green and orange prints but there wasn’t room for them …

This was really exiting and I’m sure that now and then I shall make more fabric bundles! It is wonderful to see what fabrics other bloggers have chosen to their bundles! And there are many fabrics that I haven’t seen even I thought I had looked most of the fabrics!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERY ONE!!!
